Design
iPhone 14 is expected to look fairly similar to iPhone 13, but with a thicker chassis and no camera bumps on the back, meaning a smooth and flat design all-around. One prediction for iPhone 14's design is the elimination of the notch (the small black bit on top of the screen). While the latest iPhones feature a notch to house the camera and face ID hardware, it's expected that these will now be stored in a hole-punch like design. We're also pretty certain that a Mini version of the iPhone 14 won't happen as the recent Mini models haven't done so well sales-wise.
While these changes may seem subtle, we expect that they will create an overall redesign of the iPhone; producing a sleeker, neater looking iPhone.
Features
No major changes are expected, other than a few processor changes and camera updates. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that by 2022, iPhone will feature a 10x optical zoom, allowing users to add an impressive zoom range. Other camera updates that could appear include 8K video capabilities for the iPhone 14 Pro models, plus a jump to 48MP sensors and larger pixel sizes.
A new A16 processor is expected to be used for iPhone 14, so we can expect major gains in battery life, as well as a lighter device with a smaller battery unit and superior performance.
Date
iPhone 14 will most likely be announced mid-September 2022 and hit the shops around a week later. This would be in line with Apple's typical schedule for iPhone releases, however there are also rumours of a potential iPhone SE being released... could this lead to a new schedule for iPhone releases?
